About
A celebrated and renowned Indian DJ and composer with a career spanning over two decades, DJ Aqeel has played at prestigious events, including the World Economic Forum in Davos, where he entertained dignitaries like Bill Clinton and Kofi Annan. He is the only Indian DJ to have filled concert-sized venues worldwide. His foray into music production began with the release of his debut album, ‘Shake it Daddy Mix’, which became a massive hit. Over the years, Aqeel has released nine blockbuster albums, selling over 7 million copies globally. His notable works include ‘Forever-2’ (2012), featuring the popular remake of 'Kya Dekhte Ho' from the movie ‘Qurbani’.
Aqeel has an impressive collection of official remixes, including 'Edge of Glory' by Lady Gaga and hits from Bollywood movies like ‘Bunty aur Babli’, ‘Om Shanti Om’, and ‘Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic’. He also founded Power Play Records, India's first DJ-owned record label.
Beyond his music, Aqeel has also made a significant impact on the nightlife scene. He was the mastermind behind several state-of-the-art nightclubs, including RSVP in Delhi and One Beach in Goa.
Throughout his career, Aqeel has spun at high-profile events, including the sangeets of Bollywood's elite like Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, and Aishwarya Rai, and even at the sangeet of corporate tycoon Laxmi Mittal's daughter. His ability to make both celebrities and corporate giants groove to his tunes has strengthened his position as one of the top DJs in India.
